Jookie Daley

A man who thinks he is a god. After finding him living out of tent city in Waterloo, Jookie tells (his memory of) his journey into homelessness and drugs. As a project in one of my first classes in digital media production, we leaned into theming the production towards the rough and gritty aesthetic that falls in line with Jookie himself. Beyond being a logistical challenge as a student, this project taught me more about storytelling than any other. It showed me the power of helping others share their stories and finding meaningful ways to bring those stories to life. I carry that lesson into every piece of multimedia I create, guided by the belief that media is at its best when it serves a story worth telling.
